The band was formed in 2011 and is made up of friends and family members. Antigone Stappa plays the guitar, Spyros Lembesis plays the violin, Gregores Lembesis the lute while Emmanouil Paliakis percussion and brass instruments. All of them sing. Xefrago Ambeli has performed in many music theaters, restaurants, festivals and cultural events all over Greece, such as: Alico Music Theater, Nikolaos Tselementes Cycladic Gastronomy Festival, Sifnos Beacons, Festival for Solidarity & Cooperative Economy – Oete 2017, “Greece Everywhere” 2018 Festival by Zeses Foundation, Rematia Festival – Chalandri 2018, concerts as part of the cultural events organized by the Municipalities of Sifnos Island, Athens and Monemvasia (2016-2019), etc

 

In October 2017 they participated in the 1st Festival of Traditional Bands “Tis Triantafyllias ta Fylla-The Leaves of the Rose”, organized by the Domna Samiou Folk Music Association at the Athens Concert Hall. On May 2019 they travelled to Cyprus and performed at Marios Tokas Municipal Garden Theater in Limassol as part of a festival dedicated to Hellenism.

 

Xefrago Ambeli has also appeared on V. Neonaki’s TV show “Dia-kritika” at Crete TV which focused exclusively on the history of the band. They have also been invited to many radio shows at private radio stations as well as at the “First Program” of Public Radio and in particular at D. Kochila’s show “Vradina ke Ellinika – Nightly and Greek” – as well at V. Komytes show at “Meta-deftero” web radio.

 

An important part of their activity involves wedding as well as christening parties and traditional feasts of dance associations all over Greece.

 

What characterizes this band is liveliness, high spirits and the limitless mood for music gatherings, no matter where they are.
